An impressive historical holiday villa for rent in Italy that throughout the centuries has hosted international celebrities and noble families of high status, Villa Pliniana is situated in a solitary cove between Torno and Faggeto Lario, in the Lake Como area. Dating back to the sixteenth century, this precious palace has recently been restored to a top luxury vacation home that can accommodate up to 33 guests.
The villa has been updated to the highest contemporary standards whilst maintaining the charm and historical details of the original design, designed by Patricia Urquiola.
The modern part of Pliniana combines majestically with timeless frescoes, wood panels, terraces, and sixteenth-century fireplaces.
The highlight of the villa is the piano where Gioachino Rossini wrote the Opera ‘Tancredi’ in 1813, which still remained at the same spot where he once sat. Within the garden of 18 waterfront acres, the main house offers two wonderful lounges decorated with sumptuous frescoed ceilings. There are 10 luxurious fully modern bedrooms, spacious and equipped with all the comforts, which are divided among four large suites. Two additional stand alone villas are located near the main villa.
Each suite features a satellite TV, internet connection, and a safe, moreover, every suite is also equipped with a private kitchen and laundry room. The spa and the vast gardens offer intimacy and space, coupled with the five-star service Hotels services of a luxury property.
Pliniana is located on the southeast shore of Lake Como, in the town of Torno, only 8kilometers/5miles from the main town of Como.
The villa can be reached by helicopter or by a private boat of the property; a Riva motorboat (the Italian Ferrari of the water, a true icon, also famous from movies of the 60s and 70s). The on-property helipad provides easy access to Milan and other main airports.
The villa is only on 60kilometers/37,5miles distance from Milan Malpensa Airport. Pliniana is also accessible by car and offers a spacious parking space.
