If you have the opportunity to come to Italy, and you are in a bar, you might happen to hear this expression from the locals: “Excuse me can I have a prosecchino?". And it is indeed the real Italian Prosecco, not a new revised version!

It is not clear what the reason for such a diminutive is, and the producers of the DOC area are not keen on hearing this expression.

In truth, rather than diminishing its value, the word is expressed as a term of endearment, probably for the reduced quantity contained in its glass compared to the size of a wine glass.

Of course, there are different qualities of Prosecco, and the best are undoubtedly Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg Rive e Cartizze. Veneto is the region in which it is produced, in particular in the vineyards near Treviso, Venice, Belluno and Padua. In the Friuli Venezia Giulia region there are vineyards near Udine, Trieste, Pordenone and Gorizia.

Mainly there are two capitals of Prosecco: Valdobbiadene and Vidor, which increasingly produce quality bottles.

Viticulture has been widespread in Conegliano Valdobbiadene area since ancient times. A funerary stele recalls the words of a Roman centurion, citing the “vendemmiales”, celebrations in occasion of the grape harvest. Its production has continued for centuries, so much so that in 2008 the project for the recognition of the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene as a UNESCO World Heritage Site was started. It is, in fact, a real cultural landscape where the work of the winemakers has contributed to creating a unique scenario.

In a land where taste and beauty merge masterfully, visitors are encouraged to discover cultural treasures, taste local cuisine, and to experience events as protagonists.

Conegliano Valdobbiadene is the cradle of Prosecco Superiore that can be discovered by following the first historic wine route of Italy, which winds through the towns of Conegliano in Valdobbiadene. Each season boasts delicious surprises, through enchanting landscapes tinged with new colors, where visitors are encouraged to discover the cultural treasures, and taste the local cuisine made of genuine products.

Follow the hills with their characteristic cone shape to Colbertaldo, where you begin to climb up in order to reach the top of the denomination: the Cartizze. Here one of the most beautiful wine landscapes in Italy will open up to you. Prosecco Superiore on the table, fresh, versatile and with moderate alcohol content, is perfect for multiple occasions. It has become famous worldwide as the king of the aperitif, a ritual that has now spread internationally, affirming a typically Italian style.

However, thanks to the variability of the sugar dosage, it is also suitable for accompanying the meal, especially in the Brut version.
It should be served alone, never mixed. The secret for the perfect match is combining its elegant and never invasive personality with culinary preparations that emphasize the raw materials, thanks to a cooking method that maintains the original flavors and aromas.

Prosecco is a wine for any occasion, but it is also a great Italian wine; in any region you will be spending a holiday in one of our luxury villas in Italy, toast to each other’s happiness in style and say ... “Cin cin”, with your Prosecchino!
